Brasília – The 416 doctors participating in the second stage of the More Doctors program have already started to report for duty on Tuesday (October 1) in the 228 municipalities and 9 Indigenous Health Care Districts. Doctors who do not start their activities by October 14 will be removed from the program.
In order to confirm the beginning of their work under the program, the doctors are required to turn in personal documents, their diploma, their professional registration with a Regional Medical Board, and their membership agreement signed.
Out of 416 doctors graduated from Brazilian universities, 245 are going to municipalities in the countryside, 159 to suburban areas and metropolitan regions, and 12 are going to work in indigenous districts. Brazil's Northeast is to receive 168 professionals, followed by the Southeast (93), Central-West (68) and North (43).
Next Monday (October 7), the second stage will continue, with the course for the training and evaluation of the 2,000 Cuban doctors and 149 doctors graduated from foreign universities. The course lasts for three weeks.
