Brazil offers condolences to Spain for train crash victims

Brasília – Brazil’s government expressed its grief on Thursday (July 25) over the accident involving a derailing train near Santiago de Compostela, in Spain. In a note issued by Itamaraty, the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the Brazilian government offered its condolences to the people and the government of Spain.
“It grieved us to hear about the train accident in the vicinity of Santiago de Compostela, on the night of July 24 which caused the death of at least 80 people and left over 100 people injured. The Brazilian government expresses its condolences and grieves over the loss felt by family members, the people and the Spanish government,” the note reads.
The derailing accident happened 3 km away from the station of Santiago da Compostela, in Galicia, around 08:30 pm (local time). The train was on the route from Madrid to Ferrol, with 218 passengers on board.
