Brasília – Brazil’s External Relations Ministry has confirmed the death of the second Brazilian citizen in the accident involving the train that derailed last week, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The victim was a Brazilian woman who, like the Brazilian man whose death was announced on July 16, also holds Spanish citizenship. Her family was notified and requested for personal information not to be made public. Brazil’s consulate in Madrid offered support, but her family declared they did not need it.

According to the Ministry of External Relations, the body was recognized at the weekend. There are no more bodies awaiting recognition.

The accident took place on July 24, when the train connecting Madrid to Ferrol crashed. At least 130 people were taken to the hospital immediately after the accident. Thirty two people were severely injured, including children. A Brazilian man, 25, who also held Spanish citizenship, died in the accident.
