Rio de Janeiro – The National Household Sample Survey (“PNAD”) published Friday (September 27) by the Brazilian Statistics Institute (“IBGE”) reported that Brazil's population grew 0.8% in 2012, to 196.9 million people. The population grew by 1.6 million people compared to 2011 and is mostly female (51.3%).
Among Brazil's five regions, the biggest growth was reported in the North region (1.4%) and the smallest was found in the South (0.6%).
