Brasília – Brazil’s dollar outflow surpassed the inflow by $6.2 billion in October, according to data released by the Central Bank on Wednesday (Nov. 6). This was the fifth consecutive month that closed out negative. October’s deficit was the largest one since December 2012, when the deficit reached $6.755 billion. In September, the balance was -$2.058.
Last month, the negative results derived both from financial flow (investments in bonds, profit remittances and dividends overseas, direct foreign investments), with $5.137 billion, and from commercial flow (exchange operations related to imports and exports), which totaled $1.063 billion.
The Central Bank also announced that the banks’ position was $12.289 billion short. They were relying on the devaluation of the dollar.
