Brasília – The Brazilian Federal Medical Council (“CFM”) reported on Friday (September 20) that it instructed Regional Councils (“CRM's”) to grant temporary licenses to foreign doctors working under the More Doctors Program, provided that each applicant's documentation is complete and consistent.
The CFM requested that the Ministry of Health submit the foreign doctors' names and work locations listing in order to check the practitioners' performance. According to a release, CRM's fixed a 15-day deadline as of the handout date of each license for the Ministry to submit the names and work addresses of the supervisors and tutors of each doctor enrolled in the program.
A number of CRM's petitioned not to grant the license, but the Office of the Attorney General of the Union (“AGU”) had already won the case in several states. The AGU had published a decision on September 16 that the CRM's had no right to deny licenses to participants who submitted their documentation in accordance with the terms of the More Doctors Program.
